    Elementary ARTs Group with LCPS

Las Cruces Public Schools has elementary art at every school provided by a group of sixteen  art teachers, also known as the ARTs Group.
In addition to the responsibilities of teaching art, teachers make sure students' artwork is seen several times throughout the school year in various formal art exhibits in the county. This absorbs many hours during work and extra-curricular to put up displays in schools or to frame and hang art - in ARTs Group teams - for several public shows. The list of displays include two galleries in Las Cruces; at the Annual Doña Ana State Fair Art Exhibit; then after the summer Elementary Exhibit ends at the LCPS Central Office Gallery... the artwork is wrapped up and sent to Santa Fe for the New Mexico State Fair Exhibit.
One of our goals is to adhere to the NM State Standards of Elementary Visual Arts. But more importantly, it is through these exhibits, and now with this blog, that we aim to connect with you, the community to show appreciation of the very creative efforts of our LCPS artists.
The process of showing art is very formal and worthy of celebrating.  What makes showing artwork so formal?
Each teacher selects works of art for the purpose of either creating a school display or for framing the artwork in a beautiful wooden frame for a public exhibit with an after-school Artist's Reception at one of the locations seen at this site. The artist whose work is chosen for an exhibit, is presented with a teacher-prepared-congratulatory letter to  take home to their families. This letter also serves as a special Invitation for all to attend the very special Artist's Opening Reception.  As with any honor, Artist's recognition is given during school announcements.
What happens at the Artist's Opening Receptions? At one gallery, the DA County Gallery's Projects Assistant, Corrie Stone-Fielder, provides complementary cookies and punch.  At the other, the LCPS Art Gallery, it is catered by funds courtesy of LCPS, with cookies made by the private school nearby, Alma de' Arte.
In support of our young artists - the ARTs Group of 16 Teachers also attend each Artist's Reception.
Now we want to share their amazing Art Work,  here in this space, in these Virtual Galleries! We hope you, parents or any visitor who might not have been able to see the art on display throughout the school year, enjoy your virtual tour, anytime!

    Thank you for visiting!
